People with developmental disabilities are now eligible to receive a coronavirus vaccination in California. For some people with developmental disabilities, getting healthcare in general or getting vaccines in particular can be anxiety-inducing or overstimulating. Disability Voices United and the State Council on Developmental Disabilities have created two tip sheets to support people with disabilities on vaccination day.
For family advocates, check out the Vaccination Day Tip Sheet for Family Advocates.
If you know the medical provider who will be giving your family member the vaccine, it may be helpful to share our Vaccination Day Tip Sheet for Medical Staff ahead of time.
