Changing the Individual Budget

There is a lot of confusion between the individual budget and the spending plan. They are different things.

Individual Budget: This is the total amount of money you have for your services. It starts with the last 12 months of expenses for you in the traditional system. This amount is decided through meetings with your regional center and must take unmet need and change of circumstances into account.

Spending Plan – This is the way you will spend the funds in your individual budget. You will need to be specific so that your FMS knows how to pay for your services, items and activities. Your spending plan can change over the year but you can’t spend more than your total individual budget.
