The Principle of Responsibility: Securing the Future of the SDP. The Department of Developmental Services has recently proposed major changes to the SDP. They talk about putting up “guardrails” to ensure the “sustainability of the program.” These proposed guardrails are meant to speak to the SDP principle of responsibility, which include being good stewards of taxpayer dollars. We will talk through what this does and doesn’t mean and how we can be both more responsible while increasing the control we have over our lives.
