Support Bills to Improve Transparency and the SDP

We need your help getting our bills signed by Governor Gavin Newsom!

These bills are important, and we need the Governor to hear directly from members of our community.

Here are sample support letters you can use. Be sure to add your own words about why these bills are important to your members.


Option 1: Use the Governor’s website

Complete the contact form at: gov.ca.gov/contact/

  • Topic: Choose “An Active Bill”
  • What Specific Bill?  Scroll down to choose either AB 1147, SB 1281, or SB 1463.
  • What is the purpose of your message? Choose “Leave a comment”
  • Click Next
  • If applicable, what is your stance on this topic? Choose “Pro”
  • You can write your own message or cut and paste from our sample support letters.
  • Then fill out your name and email address.
  • Click Submit


Option 2: Call the Governor’s office

You can leave a message or speak to a person.

You can say: “I am calling to support [name the bill number] and ask for the Governor’s signature. I live in [name your city] and this bill is important to me.”

If you speak to a person, they will not ask for your name or address. They will just mark down your position.
